baking solidarity
2024-2025

poetcs of craft, participation, imagining common space

In the context of contemporary neo-liberal Western societes, what is the meaning of solidarity? In what soil does it grow? Where does it come from and how to cultivate it? How do individual and collective cultures interact? In this project I am looking for its sources and exploring its expressions in various communites of resistance, through baking.

The performative research is based on participative observation and experience in: baking structure of the squatted community of Prosfygika, Athens; self-managed bakery Le Pain Levé, Brussels; people’s kitchen of the neighborhood of Lentillères, Dijon, self-organized collective bakery in Café Da Tony, Merelbeke, and others.
